TYSA Tots

Young ones ages 0-3 and their families are invited to take part in fun, FREE 40-minute community classes where they are introduced to music by an experienced Kindermusik instructor and try out everything from singing to dancing to movement!

Conductor Apprentice Program (CAP)

This program, open to current & former TYSA students and local college students, trains young musicians ages 16-21 in the art of conducting. Participants learn skills such as baton technique, score analysis, rehearsing and performing with TYSA ensembles, and more!

Prelude Strings

Prelude Strings (formerly known as the Tacoma Young Violin Program) is for young people (grades 2-5) who wish to explore violin, viola, cello, or bass for the first time! Students will learn entry-level string skills, note reading, rhythmic foundations, how to play together in a group, and have the opportunity to make new friends.

Music Theory

TYSA offers a wide range of music theory classes designed to deepen students’ understanding of the language of music, including note-reading, harmony, music history, and more! Classes are open to TYSA students, parents, and anyone in the community who wishes to explore music theory.
