Summer Camps and Festivals

Keep the music going over the summer and join TYSA for a variety of experiences including the Evergreen Music Festival, the TYSA – Hammond Ashley Bass Workshop, and the Summer Jazz Orchestra!

Evergreen Music Festival Session 1

Session 1: July 13 – 17, 2026 at Pacific Lutheran University

An amazing symphonic summer music camp for students ages 7-14 who play orchestral instruments, including strings, winds, brass, and percussion. Students will take part in daily rehearsals, instrument-specific coaching sessions, music theory classes, recreation time, and a final performance.

Evergreen Music Festival Session 2

Session 2: July 19 – 25, 2026 at Central Washington University

Another incredible symphonic summer music camp for students entering 9th grade through age 21 who play orchestral instruments, including strings, winds, brass, and percussion. Students will take part in daily rehearsals, instrument-specific coaching sessions, music theory classes, recreation time, listening to student and faculty recitals, and participate in a chamber music performance as well as final symphonic performance.

TYSA – Hammond Ashley Bass Festival

July 28 – 31, 2026 at the University of Puget Sound

The festival offers an immersive study of the double bass through group technique classes, solo opportunities, and ensemble instruction. At the end of the workshop, all of the participants combine together to perform in a unique all-bass orchestra extravaganza! Double bass students of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Summer Jazz Orchestra

August 6 – 9, 2026 at Tacoma City Theaters and the Spanish Ballroom

Join TYSA for their Summer Jazz Orchestra! This workshop is held in downtown Tacoma in Studio 3 of the Tacoma City Theaters, with a final performance in the Spanish Ballroom at McMenamins Elks Temple, and is for students entering 8th grade through age 21.
