Puget Sound Percussion Festival

Learn more about the Puget Sound Percussion Festival, a fun intensive for percussionists of any age or experience level!

June 30 – July 2, 2026 • Tacoma City Theaters

Puget Sound Percussion Fest is a three-day, immersive “total percussion” summer experience designed for percussionists of all ages. The festival exposes students to the full spectrum of the percussion world through hands-on instruction, ensemble playing, creative exploration, and mentorship from regional artist-educators.

The emphasis is on breadth, curiosity, and community—helping young percussionists better understand the many pathways available to them as percussionists while strengthening core skills that translate across styles.

The festival culminates in a public performance in Studio 3 at the Pantages, showcasing a cross-section of festival ensembles and collaborative works.

Students will rotate through a wide range of focus areas, including:

  • Concert percussion (snare, timpani, keyboard, accessory percussion)
  • Chamber music / Percussion ensemble
  • Samba / Brazilian percussion ensemble
  • Drum set fundamentals
  • Marching percussion techniques
  • Solo repertoire development
  • Hand drumming traditions
  • Improvisation and creative music-making
  • Steel pan
