Multi-faceted artist and percussionist Dr. Reese Rylan Maultsby is an experienced educator, performer, and composer. Currently, Dr. Maultsby serves as Assistant Professor of Percussion at Lamar University where he coordinates the percussion area and mentors undergraduate and graduate level students. Reese is a frequently requested guest artist, giving clinics and masterclasses at multiple high schools and universities across the country, as well as international and regional events like the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and PAS sponsored Days of Percussion. 

Professionally, Dr. Maultsby has performed across the world as a soloist and ensemble musician with Holland America Lines, the American Festival Orchestra, the Austin Percussion Collective, ROMP! percussion quartet, and The University of Texas Wind Ensemble. He has continually been involved with the marching arts as a teacher and arranger, working with groups like the Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps, IMPACT Percussion, Jeff Chambers Music, and multiple high schools and universities throughout the country. Reese is continually composing works for himself and others, and is published by C. Alan Publications, Cangelosi Publications, and self-published through his website. You can hear his playing on Omar Thomas’ latest record, Griot Songs, as well as Density 512’s album Arnold Rosner: Music for the Symphonic Wind Band.

Dr. Maultsby earned degrees from Central Washington University, James Madison University, and The University of Texas at Austin. Reese proudly endorses Innovative Percussion, Remo Drumheads, and Sabian Cymbals, and is a continuous member of the Texas Music Educators Association and Percussive Arts Society.
