TYSA Mentor Program

A unique opportunity for current, experienced TYSA students to support the next generation of TYSA musicians. Students volunteer their time, develop their educational and leadership skills, and receive service hours as a result.

TYSA Mentor Program

What is the Mentor Program?

Students who mentor have the opportunity to support younger students in other TYSA ensembles. Mentors lead from within their section while learning to educate and inspire others as a positive role model. This mutual support enriches all students’ experiences here at TYSA, and helps create a welcoming learning environment for everyone.

Mentors help out in their sections, demonstrate proper technique to the younger students, assist coaches in sectionals, and take initiative in rehearsals with the help of their conductors. In addition, mentors receive community service hours.

Guidelines for Mentoring

Please read through the guidelines linked below (as an example) to learn more about what to expect as a mentor.
