Morris Northcutt

Morris Northcutt is an internationally recognized trumpet soloist, recording artist, educator, and Schilke Performing Artist & Clinician. Influenced by his heritage as the son of a Korean immigrant, he brings a rich cultural perspective to music that seamlessly blends classical, jazz, and folk traditions.

His recordings Tonada and Moliendo Café explore the rich musical heritage of Venezuela and feature collaborations with acclaimed artists including Justo Morao, Germán Landaeta, Domingo Pagliuca, and Edward Ramírez. These projects have introduced listeners around the world to a distinctive musical voice rooted in lyricism, storytelling, and emotional connection.


Beyond his recording career, Northcutt has appeared as a featured soloist with ensembles throughout North America and abroad, including the Miami Symphony Orchestra. His versatility has also led to collaborations spanning film, video game, and contemporary recording projects.

A dedicated advocate for music education, Northcutt has presented clinics and masterclasses for schools, universities, and organizations including the International Trumpet Guild, the Rafael Méndez International Brass Festival, and the Washington Music Educators Association. His educational philosophy emphasizes honest practice, artistic expression, and meaningful communication through music.


Through performances, recordings, and educational outreach, Morris Northcutt continues to build connections across cultures and generations, sharing music that speaks directly to the human experience.


Morris Northcutt is a Schilke Performing Artist and Clinician, performing exclusively on the Schilke family of trumpets, and a Voting Member of the Recording Academy.
