
Clarinetist KAI HIRAYAMA is a Brooklyn-based international performer and improviser dedicated to the music of both then and now – from Brahms to Braxton. An avid champion of new music and a strong believer in its necessity for a thriving musical future, he has worked with many composers including Igor Santos, Conrad Tao, Amy Beth Kirsten, Rama Gottfried, Victoria Cheah, and more to create and perform new works of solo, chamber, and performative music. A core member of PinkNoise Ensemble and an active member of the NYC freelance community, he can frequently be heard playing with the Fort Greene Orchestra, the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of New York, and others. He is also the chef at New Music on the Point in Leicester, Vermont.
